Fulton (Mo.) — The Iowa Wesleyan softball team scored twice in the 3rd inning, once in the 5th and three times in the 6th inning earning a 6-0 shutout, upset victory over fourth-seeded Westminster in the first round of the SLIAC Conference Tournament yesterday.

Former Fort Madison prep Ivy Geerdes got the scoring started in the third with a two RBI single then it was an all New London afternoon.

A graduate of last year’s region final squad, Kara Krieger had her freshman moment clubbing a two run home run, while her old ace Morgan Christner hit not one, but two solo shots.

Christner was once again dynamite in the circle.

The senior allowed just five hits while striking out ten in the win.

Now, the Tigers will take on top-seeded Fontbonne today in the semifinal round.

The game will be played in Fulton, Missouri.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. this afternoon.
