On Oct 20th, 2024, the Burlington Fire Department was dispatched at 7:55 pm for a report of a smoke showing from 115 N. 4th. in downtown Burlington. Burlington firefighters arrived two minutes later to find fire and smoke coming from the third floor of the building. The fire was contained to the third floor which sustained major smoke and heat damage.
The property is owned by BBS Investors LLC and is a three-story commercial building. The property was insured at the time of this incident. The building was not equipped with a fire detection system.
Burlington Fire Department was assisted by Alliant Energy and Gas, West Burlington Fire Department, Burlington Police Department, and Des Moines County Sheriffs Department. All units cleared the scene at 10:40 pm.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported during this incident.
The cause of the fire has been ruled undetermined. Any additional information related to this incident will be made available by the Fire Marshal.
