High School Softball Rankings

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released the sixth edition of the softball rankings yesterday and two of our local teams have entered the top 15.

Holy Trinity Catholic was one of three new teams added to the Class 1A rankings with the Crusaders rounding out the list. After a slow start to the season, Holy Trinity Catholic has found their stride, collecting their 21st victory last night, marking back-to-back 20-win seasons. Sydney Jarvis and Cadyn Holmes have been a tough one-two punch at the plate with both players batting above 0.450 and combining for five home runs and 64 RBIs. Add in a 1.57 ERA from Jarvis and the Crusaders are a tough team to beat.

The Southeast Conference is now represented in Class 4A after Burlington broke into the rankings, going from unranked to #13 in this week’s edition. The Grayhounds have won five straight, allowing a total of only two runs. Kylee Hill has been unstoppable both in the circle and at the plate. Her 100 strikeouts and 1.93 ERA have paired well with her 0.831 slugging percentage, which includes five home runs and 28 RBIs, which leads the team in both categories.
