High School Track and Field
Mt. Pleasant competed at the Wartburg High School Invitational yesterday and here are the results for the boys. Avin Truong had quite the meet as he finished in 1st place for the 55 meter dash, 4th in the 200 meter, and 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet 1 inch. Ben Carthey finished 6th in the 1600 meter run with a sub 5 minute time. Will Davidson took home the gold in three events as he won the 400 meter dash, the 55 meter hurdles, and the long jump with a leap of 21 feet 5 inches. In the shot put, Isaac Jerrel finished in 4th place with a heave of 47 feet 10 inches. The 4×400 meter team of Mason Sloat, Jacob Richtman, Ben Carthey, and Gabe Feldmann finished in 7th place and Isaac Rynders and Tyler Johsnon joined Feldmann and Richtman for the 4×800 meter relay that finished in 6th place.
Mica Carter and Bailey Jalas finished in 8th and 9th, respectively, in the girls 200 meter dash. Elsie Lange took home 9th in the 400 meter dash. The 4×200 meter relay team of Bailey Jalas, Josie Gilmore, Tristan Shull, and Kynlee White captured 6th place. In the 4×400 meter relay, Abby Carthey, Emma Welcher, Mica Carter, and Andi Scott finished in 7th place. Carthey and Welcher were joined by Aliya Graber and Jayden Housh in the 4×800 meter relay that finished in 8th place. With a throw of 33 feet 6.75 inches, Ella Ensminger finished in 7th place in the shot put. Lastly, Elsie Lange had one more top 10 finish in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet 6 inches to take home 6th place.
The boys’ will be heading to Central College on Friday to compete in an indoor meet with the girls’ competing on Saturday at Central College.
High School Soccer
The Mt. Pleasant girls’ soccer season will begin on March 28th against Mediapolis on the road.
WACO’s boy soccer team will start their season at home against Fairfield on March 30th.
The Central Lee boys’ soccer team will take on Keokuk on March 27th as the Hawks start their season on the road.
Youth Basketball

Iowa comes into the tournament as the 8th seed and will take on Auburn in the opening round and Iowa St. will take on Pittsburgh as the 6th seed.
Iowa Wesleyan Athletics
The Tiger baseball team’s home opening doubleheader against Graceland University will take place today with game one at 1 pm. KILJ will be on the call with pregame at 12:45 pm.
The Tiger softball team will travel to take on Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday, March 18th, at 1 pm.
The men’s golf team for Iowa Wesleyan has released their upcoming spring schedule and here’s what the Tigers have in front of them. The Jim Wetherbee Invitational in Galesburg, Illinois will be the season opener on March 25th and 26th. Then the Tigers will have two home competitions with the Purple Cup taking place on March 27th and the IW Tiger Classic occurring on March 28th. The season concludes on May 1st and 2nd at the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Championships in San Antonio, Texas. The team will be led by Trace White and Brevin Wilson, who both placed in the top 10 at the 2022 CAC Championship meet last year, placing 6th and 8th, respectively. White was also named to the All-Tournament team last fall at the Simpson Fall Invitational. Kurt Moon will be at the helm for the team in his 14th season coaching the Iowa Wesleyan golf teams.
