Mt. Pleasant JV Football

The Mt. Pleasant Panthers suffered their first loss of the season on the road last night against the Burlington Grayhounds, 14-8. Byers Nealey led the Panthers in tackles with 6.5, followed by Nolan Frueh with 4.5, and Logan Borders with 4. Nealey was getting it done on both sides of the football as he was the leading rusher with 67 yards. The lone score of the game for Mt. Pleasant came on a 4-yard run by Gavin Kerr. Cooper Coleman completed four passes for 93 yards. Payson Coleman caught two of the passes for 57 yards and Phoenix Watson had one catch for 36 yards. The JV team finishes their season with a 3-1 record.

High School Football

The Mt. Pleasant Panthers are looking for their first win of the season as they will travel to play Clinton this Friday, October 14th, at 7:30 pm. KILJ will be on the call with pregame scheduled to start at 7:15.

WACO will be looking to spoil Tri-County’s senior night, looking to end the regular season with a perfect record. Kickoff scheduled for 7 pm.

Winfield-Mt. Union will be looking to bounce back at home this Friday against English Valleys at 7 pm, as they are still fighting for a playoff spot.

New London will be looking to end the season on a road win against HLV this Friday, game scheduled to start at 7 pm.

Other games in Mt. Pleasant’s district, Burlington will be celebrating senior night against Iowa City Liberty and North Scott will be on the road against Fort Madison, both games scheduled to start at 7:30 pm. Other games in the area, Washington will be at home against Fairfield and Keokuk will travel to play West Burlington.

High School Volleyball

WACO will be at home tonight, October 11th, against Highland at 7:30 pm to celebrate their senior night and the last game of the regular season.

The Mount Pleasant Panthers will be participating in the SEC Tournament today, it is a continuation last Tuesday.

Winfield-Mt. Union will be heading into their last game of the regular season against Wapello today. The Wolves are 21-9 with a 7-0 district record.

Holy Trinity Catholic will be competing the at the Mediapolis Tournament Thursday, October 13th.

Elementary Basketball Tournament

Iowa Wesleyan Athletics

The Tiger women’s soccer team will be celebrating senior day for today’s game at Mediapolis High School where they will host William Penn University at 7 pm.

The men’s soccer team will travel to clash with Culver-Stockton College at 5 pm today.

Alexis Hafenstine was named Continental Athletic Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week. From October 3rd through the 9th, Hafenstine totaled 94 digs for an average of 7.83 digs per set, including a 33-dig performance against Haskell Indian Nations University last Saturday. Tiger volleyball’s next game will be October 13th against Waldorf University at 7 pm on the road.

Men’s and women’s cross-country will be back in action October 14th to compete at the Indian Hills Invitational at 4 pm.

The Tiger football team will look to bounce back Saturday, October 15th, as they face off with Valley City State University at 1 pm.
