Girls’ Soccer: Panthers Wallop Fairfield:

Andrea Lopreato scored four goals as the Mount Pleasant girls’ soccer team stayed hot with a 7-0 conference win over Fairfield last night at East Lake Park.

Elly Manning chipped in with two scores, while Anna Ostby found the back of the net for Mount Pleasant as well.

That trio has scored every goal this season for the Panthers, while Lopreato has already punched in seven.

It was her second consecutive hat trick.

Mount Pleasant has outscored their opponents 16-0 through their first two games.

They’ll look to keep the good times rolling Thursday when they host Burlington.

The Greyhounds are coming off a 2-1 win over Washington last night.

Boys’ Soccer: Mount Pleasant Falls to Fairfield:

The Mount Pleasant boys’ soccer team took one on the chin yesterday, falling to Fairfield 8-0 on the road in a Southeast Conference fixture.

The Panthers have been outscored 18-0 in their last two fixtures.

The loss moved them to 1-3.

They’ll be back at it Thursday, April 15th when they travel to Burlington High School.

Match time is set for 4:30 p.m.

Girls’ Golf: Mount Pleasant Wins at Muscatine:

Mount Pleasant’s Elli Liechty and Sami Wibben tied for the medalist spot, as the Panther girls’ golf team picked up a terrific win over both Muscatine and Burlington at Geneva Golf and Country Club yesterday in Muscatine.

The Panthers won with 214 strokes — Muscatine took second with 234, while Burlington finished third with 250 strokes.

Ryann Davidson and Kylie Walderbach both shot 55’s for Mount Pleasant.

They’ll be off until Thursday, April 22nd when they take part in the Oskaloosa tournament.

Girls’ Golf: New London Soars Past Louisa-Muscatine:

Taylor Phillips carded a 44 as the New London girls’ golf team strolled to an easy victory over Louisa-Muscatine last night in a Super Conference dual.

Hannah Orberg shot a 54, while Sophie Malott added a 55.

Louisa-Muscatine’s Madison Bieri shot a 55 to lead the Falcons.

New London will be right back at it tonight when they take on Holy Trinity.

They’ll golf at Sheaffer Memorial in Fort Madison.

Boys’ Tennis: Panthers Earn Clutch Win over Fairfield:

The Mount Pleasant boys’ tennis team picked up a 5-4 win last night over Fairfield at Fairfield Middle School.

David Nguyen earned a win in No. 1 singles, beating Blake Holden, 4-6, 6-2 (8) to stake the Panthers to a good start.

Owen Vansickel won in straights sets in No. 3 singles, while Levi Graber earned a win in No. 4 singles as well.

Jake Ensminger capped singles play with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Tristan Paton of Fairfield.

Mount Pleasant’s lone doubled win came from Vansickel and Lincoln Henriksen, defeating Brecken Courtright and Paton 6-2, 6-4.

The win moved the Panthers to 2-3 on the season.

College Softball: Wesleyan Welcomes in ARC Power Dubuque for Two:

The Iowa Wesleyan softball team will be back at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex today when the Tigers welcome in A-R-C powerhouse Dubuque for a set of two nonconference tilts.

Dubuque enters play today 13-6, most recently dropping two of three to Nebraska Wesleyan and splitting a pair against nationally ranked Luther College.

Meanwhile, Wesleyan is off to a 1-4 start this year and have not played since April 2nd.

It was then when the Tigers got into the win column, taking game two of a two-game double dip against Greenville University, 3-1.

This afternoon’s twin bill will start at 4:00 p.m. with game two to start at approximately 6:00 p.m.
