Stop for Speeding Leads to Charges

On April 17, at approximately 12:15AM, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office performed a traffic stop near the intersection of 235th Street & Franklin Avenue, near Mount Pleasant on a red, 2005, Chevrolet Colorado for speeding.

After an investigation, it was found that the driver, Mitchell Logan Burnstedt (24 years of age) of Fairfield, Iowa, was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance.

Mitchell was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Henry County Jail for Operating While Under the Influence First Offense (Serious Misdemeanor), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Serious Misdemeanor), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor.) Mitchell was given a written warning for speeding.
