Two Injured in Three Vehicle Crash Monday Afternoon in Keokuk

Two people were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Keokuk.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened just after 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and McKinley Avenue.

Troopers say a 2012 Jeep Patriot was stopped at the intersection and attempted to turn west onto Main Street when it entered the path of an eastbound 2012 Nissan Rogue. The two vehicles collided and came to rest in the westbound lane of Main Street.

A westbound 2005 Dodge Ram driven by 76-year-old Jan E. Snodgrass of Keokuk attempted to stop but was unable to avoid the crash and struck the Nissan.

The drivers of the Jeep and the Nissan, whose names have not been released, were both injured. One was flown by Air Evac and the other by MedForce to University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center in Iowa City for treatment.

Snodgrass was not reported injured.

The Iowa State Patrol investigated the crash with assistance from the Keokuk Police and Fire Departments, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County EMS and 911, Hancock County, Illinois Ambulance, Air Evac, and MedForce. The crash remains under investigation.
