Utilities United Against Scams is cautioning consumers to be aware of a scam involving your energy bill. A caller states that you have overpaid your utility bill, and you will be asked to provide banking or credit card information to receive a refund. That is a scam. In reality, your utility company will credit any overpayment to your account or mail you a check. They will not request your banking information to issue the refund.
