Fairfield — Mount Pleasant’s tandem of Savana Walls and Melanie Olivas placed third at yesterday’s Class 1A regional tennis tournament in Fairfield.
They took down both Centerville and Keokuk, before falling to Shannon Bush and Erica Sons of Davenport Assumption in the semis. That group wound up in second.
Walls and Olivas then bounced back for a 3rd place match win over Maharishi.
The win makes them state alternates.
In singles play, Eva Rounceville and Ellie Situmeang both lost in round one.
