A West Burlington man is facing multiple drug charges following a traffic stop last Tuesday night in Des Moines County.
According to the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle around 9:33 p.m. on June 23, 2026 near North Roosevelt Avenue and Mount Pleasant Street after observing it being driven without headlights.
The driver was identified as Todd Edwards Mills, 48, of West Burlington.
During the stop, a Sheriff’s Office K-9 conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered marijuana and methamphetamine.
Mills was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, along with no insurance. He was transported to the Des Moines County Correctional Center.
Authorities remind the public that a criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
