Weekly Fuel Report, July 2nd

Iowa drivers are seeing little change at the gas pump this week.

According to AAA, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa is now $3.53 per gallon, down 1 cent from last week. Prices remain 57 cents higher than this time last year. The national average sits at $3.85 per gallon, a decrease of 8 cents from last week.

Diesel prices saw a much larger drop. The statewide average fell 17 cents this week to $4.35 per gallon. That’s 49 cents below the national average of $4.84, although still well above last year’s Iowa average of $3.58.

Crude oil prices also moved lower this week. West Texas Intermediate crude dropped $2.37 to $68.06 per barrel, while Brent crude fell $2.91 to $71.10 per barrel.

Meanwhile, natural gas prices slipped 3 cents at the Henry Hub benchmark and are now $3.21 per million British thermal units.
